WHAT IS DANCE TEAM?

Dance team members will rehearse for 2 hours per week each week, learning and refining 1-3 flashy dance numbers to be performed again and again throughout the year, giving students as many opportunities as possible to build skill, technique and confidence.  Teams will perform at several shows, 2-4 competitions, a parade, and Great America!  We have several teams so please do not be discouraged if you are a beginner, as we will have teams for beginners and advanced students.  Each student will receive a team uniform, bag, rhinestoned jacket and sparkly costumes! Teams will rehearse from August through June and will perform/compete roughly once per month, every month from December through July.  Team members will be charged a monthly tuition (partial, need-based scholarships available) to cover classes, choreography, staffing, and admission to our various events and charged a one time fee to cover costumes and uniforms.  Please note, all our dance team members are required to be enrolled in at least one Starlight dance class at the studio (theatre classes do not cover this requirement)

IS THIS A BIG COMMITMENT?

Yes and no.  In terms of time the comitment is easy.  One team rehearsal per week, one rec class of your choosing and then an average of one event per month.  In terms of hard work and commitment, yes, we are asking you to work HARD.  Students are expected to be in every class and at every performance on time, in uniform, and focused, working hard, depending on their teammates and earning their teammates trust.       

WHY JOIN?

You will definitely become a better dancer but that is only a fraction of what you gain from being a part of Dance Team.  This is a safe, welcoming environment where our dancers will build a community and hopefully develop friendships they will keep for the rest of their lives.  We are commited to creating a space where dancers wear appropriate, full coverage clothing, and dance to age appropriate music.  Dancers learn discipline and focus, build strong bodies, self confidence, positive body images and a healthy relationship with themselves.  Imagine mixing the teamwork and commitment of a sport with the vulnerability of a physical art and you’ll get a good idea of the sense of community these kids build together.

Mon Aug 7th from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM: Orientation/Welcome Mixer 

Everyone accepted on team must attend this mandatory orientation / welcome mixer Mon Aug 7th from 4:00  PM - 6:00 PM with at least one parent.  Additional parents and siblings are welcome.  

Regular rehearsals start the week of Aug 14th and run through JUNE

PRICES for 2023/2024 Season

Registration and Welcome Bag must be taken care before orientation

Team Registration/Tuition (1st payment due by Aug 7th)

OPTION A $240 - Monthly Tuition if on ONE team (includes 1 dance class per week)

OPTION B $340 - Monthly Tuition if on ONE team (UNLIMITED dance classes)

OPTION C $280 - Monthly Tuition if on TWO teams (includes 1 dance class per week)

OPTION D $380 - Monthly Tuition if on TWO teams (UNLIMITED dance classes)

This covers every team expense for your dancer for the entire year including team tuition, dancer’s registration for all competitions, photo packages for all competitions, ticket to Great America, end of the year party, admission to all dance team events, recital fee, dance team tee shirt, and staffing costs.  There are no surprises or hidden fees coming later. 

NOTE: Tap team members must take tap, Sapphires must take Kicks/Leaps/Turns

   - Parent/family member event tickets and parent/family member amusement park admission

   - Solo competition fees if you choose to do additional solo/duet etc

NEW POLICY: This year you have the choice of a tuition that includes one class per semester or a tuition that allows your entire family to take unlimited classes. Enrolling two siblings? Put one on the unlimited and one on the lower cost and still enjoy unlimited for both! Yes that means mom and dad and siblings can enroll in classes as well.   **does not apply to privates or theatre classes.
