THE DETAILS

  • Our School Year is 32 weeks long (28 Mondays).  Families can choose whichever payment system works best for them: Pay one half at a time or pay all up front for a discount

    • Tuition: $400 per 16 week session (or $350 for Monday Classes) Sept - Jan & Feb -May

    • Registration Fee$50 (waived if paying full school year at once)

    • Recital Fee (only for classes that include recital) $120 - broken in half over two sessions. Includes:

      • Costume

      • Professional Photos

      • Professional Videography

    Going on vacation? No problem, take a make up class within 3 weeks of the missed class by trying any other class at your level!

  • REQUIRED: To help everyone dance safely and comfortably, please have all hair secured up and away from the face for every class.

    Ages 3–5

    • Ballet: Leotard, tights, and ballet shoes

    • Jazz: Comfortable dance attire and black jazz shoes

    • Tap: Comfortable dance attire and tap shoes

    Ages 6–18

    • Ballet: Black ballet leotard, tights, and ballet shoes (ballet skirts are welcome)

    • Jazz: Comfortable, form-fitting dance attire and black or tan jazz shoes

    • Lyrical: Comfortable, form-fitting dance attire and half soles

    • Tap: Comfortable, form-fitting dance attire and tap shoes

    • Hip Hop: Comfortable dance attire and clean sneakers are required (sweatpants are welcome!)

    • Acro: Comfortable, form-fitting dance attire and bare feet

    • Contemporary: Comfortable dance attire (sweatpants are welcome) and foot undies

    • Modern: Comfortable, form-fitting dance attire (no sweatpants, please) and bare feet

    • Dark Jazz/Musical Theatre in Heels: Comfortable, form-fitting dance attire and character heels

    We appreciate your help in following the dress code so dancers can move safely, instructors can provide proper technique corrections, and everyone can enjoy a focused, positive class experience. We can't wait to dance with you!

  • To help each dancer have the best experience, classes are grouped by age and experience level.

    • Ages 8–14: These classes are open to all levels.

    • Level 1/2: Designed for beginner to intermediate dancers with approximately 1–3 years of training (after age 5).

    • Level 2/3: Designed for intermediate dancers with approximately 3–6 years of training (after age 5).

    • Level 3/4: Designed for advanced dancers with 5+ years of training (after age 5). Please consult with Miss Gemma before registering for a Level 3/4 class to ensure the best placement.

    • Teen/Adult: These are mixed-level classes and are open to dancers with a variety of experience levels.

    If you're unsure which class is the best fit, we're happy to help! Please reach out to Miss Gemma for placement guidance.

    NOTE: We reserve the right to adjust anyone’s placement at any time if the instructors determine the student is not in the correct level.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Want to try dancing at the next level, advance as quickly as possible in your skills and most importantly, make incredible friends? Join Dance Team!

    • WHEN:

      • Age 4 to 6 year olds: 10am to 10:30am (check in at 9:45am)

      • Age 7 & Up: 10:30am to 12pm (check in at 10:15am)

      • Age 7 & Up (Tap): 12pm to 12:30pm (check in at 11:45am)

    • WHERE: Starlight's Current Space at 15 Crescent Drive Pleasant Hill

    • WHAT TO PREPARE: Nothing! We will teach you everything

    • WHAT TO BRING:  Water and a small snack

    • WHAT TO WEAR: Dance shoes and all black clothing

  • The final week of December classes (12/7 - 12/13) parents will be invited into class for the last 20 minutes to see a demonstration of what the students have been working on and to celebrate how they have grown before we leave for Holiday Break.

  • STUDENTS PERFORMING IN RECITAL: All performers in recital will reciece professional photos and videos, Unlike other studios, we do not charge you hundreds of dollars for these services, they are all already baked into the cost of the classes and you get beautiful staged portraits of your child and videos of the show! We will give you more details as we get closer but please keep the full day available for now. Trust us, the photos are worth it! Students will wear their costumes and full hair and makeup just like they will in recital.

    ENROLLED IN A CLASS THAT DOESN’T PERFORM IN RECITAL? : That’s ok, if you want formal photos we are more than happy to give you an a la carte option to add them!

  • Not ready this year but eager next year to step it up? Want to try dancing at the next level, advance as quickly as possible in your skills and most importantly, make incredible friends? Join Dance Team! More details TBA.

  • June 3, June 4 and June 5: Recital Performances:6/5 (Dress rehearsal 6/3 and 6/4)

    • Perform on a big stage in a beautiful costume you get to keep! Show your friends and family all your growth from this year and lets celebrate you!

    • Plus get professional portrait and live action photos of you and a video of your recital. All included.

    • Dancers wear full stage hair and makeup and provide their own shoes and tights. We provide everything else.

    • See below for list of what classes perform in recital. Those classes have the recital fee baked into the price of the class. There are no hidden or surprise fees later. The only additional cost is recital tickets which are not included.

Starlight Studios is an ALL INCLUSIVE SPACE where children and adults of all ages, races, genders, sexualities, abilities, and special needs, can feel safe and welcome.  We believe that everyone should feel empowered and beautiful when they dance, that children should never have to wear bikinis on stage, and that music can be age appropriate and fun.

JOIN US AT 15 CRESCENT DRIVE for all classes this FALL!

Starlight has officially moved out of our original studio space on Alhambra Ave in Martinez. While our new Performing Arts Center is still under construction, our amazing landlords have set us up at 15 Crescent Drive in Downtown Pleasant Hill .

Our staff has worked incredibly hard to turn this temporary space into a performer’s dream! With even more space then our original studio, 15 Crescent has three full time dance studios/rehearsal rooms and a cushy indoor lobby. Both of our dance studios are outfitted with Marley floors and mirrors and our third rehearsal room has a full stage! We will start our Fall Season at this space and then hopefully be ready to move over to our new home later this Fall!!
