Where/When/What to prepare?

All auditions will be held at Starlight 15 Crescent Drive, Pleasant Hill. Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in.

Please prepare One 1 min song from a musical (MEMORIZED)  AND one 1 min monologue (Memorized) Please bring accompaniment as a track on your phone or device, there should not be any vocals on the track(youtube karaoke tracks are fine).  Live piano accompaniment will not be available.

How do the teams work?

  • Kids Comp Team (KC) 3rd -8th grade (or 8-14 yrs)

    • Performs at Holiday Cabaret, Showcase and as show opener for big kids shows.

    • Intensive focus on one BIG showy number with advanced vocal harmonies and choreography

    • Competes at 1 local competition

    • No major travel, this is a great stepping stone to get comfortable with more advanced theatre (and competition) without fully diving in to the big stuff yet

  • Jr Comp Team (JC) 5th - 8th grade

    • Performs at Holiday Cabaret and Showcase

    • Perform one BIG full musical: Footloose Youth Edition

    • Hone full musical into one clean, fast paced 10 minute cut to take to Competition

    • Competes at 1 local competition

    • Competes at MTCA (Big competition and days of workshops with broadway actors in Southern California plus a day at Knotts Berry Farm

    • Each performer develops at least one of the following to compete with: Vocal solo, Dance Solo, Monologue, Vocal Duet, Costume Design, Makeup Design, Set Design

  • JR Theatre (JT) 6th-8th grade

    • Performs at Holiday Cabaret and Showcase

    • Perform two BIG full musicals: Mary Poppins Jr and Seussical Jr. (Every performer is cast in both shows)

    • New this year: Also perform in the ensemble of the Full Length Adult Mary Poppins production

  • Showstopper Comp Team (SC) 5th - High School

    • Performs at Holiday Cabaret and Showcase

    • Intensive focus on one BIG showy number with advanced vocal harmonies and choreography

    • Competes at 1 local competition

    • Competes at MTCA (Big competition and days of workshops with broadway actors in Southern California plus a day at Knotts Berry Farm

    • Each performer develops at least one of the following to compete with: Vocal solo, Dance Solo, Monologue, Vocal Duet, Costume Design, Makeup Design, Set Design

  • Teen Theatre (TT) High School

    • Performs at Holiday Cabaret and Showcase

    • Perform one BIG full musical: Chicago

    • Hone full musical into one clean, fast paced 10 minute cut to take to Competition

    • Competes at MTCA (Big competition and days of workshops with broadway actors in Southern California plus a day at Knotts Berry Farm

    • Option to extend trip and go to Disneyland!

    • Each performer develops at least one of the following to compete with: Vocal solo, Dance Solo, Monologue, Vocal Duet, Costume Design, Makeup Design, Set Design

  • Teen Comp Team (TC) High School

    • Performs at Holiday Cabaret and Showcase

    • Deep dive into training in dark jazz (in heels for female identifying students and jazz sneakers for male) focusing on Fosse style musical numbers

    • Hone numbers into one clean, fast paced 10 minute cut to take to Competition

    • Competes at MTCA (Big competition and days of workshops with broadway actors in Southern California plus a day at Knotts Berry Farm

    • Option to extend trip and go to Disneyland!

    • Each performer develops at least one of the following to compete with: Vocal solo, Dance Solo, Monologue, Vocal Duet, Costume Design, Makeup Design, Set Design

Starlight Studios is an ALL INCLUSIVE SPACE where children and adults of all ages, races, genders, sexualities, abilities, and special needs, can feel safe and welcome.  We believe that everyone should feel empowered and beautiful when they dance, that children should never have to wear bikinis on stage, and that music can be age appropriate and fun.

JOIN US AT 15 CRESCENT DRIVE for all classes this FALL!

Starlight has officially moved out of our original studio space on Alhambra Ave in Martinez. While our new Performing Arts Center is still under construction, our amazing landlords have set us up at 15 Crescent Drive in Downtown Pleasant Hill .

Our staff has worked incredibly hard to turn this temporary space into a performer’s dream! With even more space then our original studio, 15 Crescent has three full time dance studios/rehearsal rooms and a cushy indoor lobby. Both of our dance studios are outfitted with Marley floors and mirrors and our third rehearsal room has a full stage! We will start our Fall Season at this space and then hopefully be ready to move over to our new home later this Fall!!
