HAIR and MAKEUP for MTCA 2025

LETS BE VERY CLEAR ABOUT EXPECTATIONS HERE…

You are all expected to start your comp day ready with your hair and makeup looking like this. Do not show up to the warmup still needing to apply makeup. Bring a lipstick to touch up but otherwise you need to be ready BEFORE the warm up starts. The following hair and makeup styles are what is expected at ALL competitions, not just MTCA. Caveat: if you are on dance team AND your dance team numbers are going up the same day as your theatre team numbers you do not have to change hairstyles between numbers, just stick with the dance team hair.

STAGE MAKEUP 

FACE: Powder foundation, bronzer, and blush (liquid foundation and concealer is optional)

EYESHADOW: Use browns and whites unless you are specifically told to use colors. (DO NOT USE BLUE!!!! IT LOOKS LIKE BLACK EYES ON STAGE and DO NOT USE GLITTER) Light color on lid, warm brown in crease, white below brow and in inside and outside corners of eye

EYELINER: Black on top AND bottom LIQUID eyeliner plus cat-eye (think you have enough? You don’t. Please put more on.)

LASHES: Mascara plus fake lashes (Magnetic lashes will make all the difference in the world) NOT OPTIONAL

EYEBROW: Darken and fill in your brows

LIPS: Cherry red or dark dark pink

SEALER: Seal with a layer of makeup sealing spray, it will make it stay all day without needing to reapply

HAIR

JR COMP

Half up-half down (whatever style you like to do this) and curl the part that is down. Please use gel and hairspray to keep flyaways at bay!

TEEN COMP and TEEN

Tight, high, clean ponytails. Please use gel and hairspray to keep flyaways at bay!

You may wear more if you want to (see the section above) but you must do at least the following:

STAGE MAKEUP

LASHES: Mascara

EYEBROW: Darken and fill in your brows

LIPS: Nude or brown (for teen cherry chaptick is fine)

SEALER: Seal with a layer of makeup sealing spray, it will make it stay all day without needing to reapply

HAIR

Please make sure it is slicked back with gel, mousse or whatever product you prefer. Just make sure hair is not in your face. If you are a boy with long hair, you can do the female hairstyle or pull it back in a tight ponytail.
